Larsen Trap

Trap used for catching crows, jackdaw, jays, magpies and rooks. A Larsen cage trap is a cage trap that has a closed compartment for confining a live decoy bird and a spring activated trap door which is either top or side entry. This flat-pack trap pops up in seconds and has a single side-entry dorr with breakable perch for easy setting. Includes transportation handle and sun-shade, as well as food and water bowls Size: 98 x 48 x 53cm The use of this trap is permitted under a general licence issued by the DETR (Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions) and allows an authorised person to keep or confine the birds listed below in a Larsen Cage Trap, the dimensions of which do not satisfy the requirements of s.8(1) Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. A similar general license is also issued by the statutory authorities in Scotland and Wales. UNDER THE TERMS OF THE GENERAL LICENCE, AN AUTHORISED PERSON IS: The landowner or occupier (or persons authorised by the owner/occupier), upon their own land. A person having written authority issued by local authorities. A person having written authority issued by English Nature (or equivalent statutory agencies), regional water boards, river authorities or local fisheries committees. Individuals are not required to hold a licence personally, but failure to comply with the conditions may amount to an offence under the Wildlife and Coutryside Act 1981 and penalties can be severe. THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE GENERAL LICENCE ARE: Control is carried out for the purposes of conserving wild birds, protecting any collection of wild birds and preventing serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables, fruit, growing timber or fisheries. Only crow, jackdaw, jay, magpie and rook may be kept or confined in a Larsen cage trap as a decoy. Any bird other than crow, jackdaw, jay, magpie and rook, which may be confined in the Larsen cage trap must be released immediately on being found. Each Larsen cage trap containing a live decoy bird must be inspected on at least one occasion in any 24 hour period. Where traps are left in the open but not in use, they must be rendered incapable of holding or catching birds. The decoy bird must be provided with adequate food, water, shelter and a perch for the entire period it is used. The decoy bird must be removed when the trap is not in use. Jay and collared dove are protected species in Northern Ireland under the Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985. Guidelines supplied by BASC (The British Association for Shooting and Conservation). To use this product: Place bait or carrion in the front area of the trap Set collapsible perch in spring-loaded door by placing wooden shafts end to end When first bird is caught, remove it and place in the rear area of the trap to act as a decoy Re-set the collapsible perch The Live decoy bird should be provided with adequate water, food, shelterand a suitable perch for the entire period The live decoy bird must be inspected on at least one occasion in any 24 hour period Only crow, magpie, jackdaw, jay and rooks may be confined in the trap as a decoy When not in use, the trap must be rendered incapable of holding or catching birds De-activate by tipping trap on to its side, with the doors downwards
